Ariadne auf Naxos

The Zürich operahouse production of the Richard Strauss opera has a good leading cast, a beautiful set design (after some faimoth restaurant in ZH), great acting is very good directed.
The way how the deeply depressed Ariadne was set for stage, was nicely done.
Instead on a deserted island, it was placed in that restaurant, Ariadne waiting for her lover to return.
No joke could make her feel better and in the end she killed herself.
Thats for the main plot :)

I liked Ariadne (Emily Magee), nice voice, but in the prelude, she failed to impress...
Zerbinetta (Elena Mosuc, did a nice job, even if her voice doesnt thrills me and she missed the hig notes...sometimes too sharp)
Michelle Breedt as the Composer, did a great job, flexible voice and just sometimes her voice get a bit in the throat
Bacchus (Roberto Sacca) sadly failed, his voice sounded flat and squeeky, gladly he appeared only at the end, even if he spoiled the great conclusion.
The Dryades were quite good...even if they had no real vocal harmony
The rest was mostly bad in singing, just good in acting.
Sad that the minor roles were kinda bad.

But after all it was a great evening...
No killing by the owlies was needed :)
